The Crystal City is a modification of the solar tower by Enviro Mission, with a hydroponic food garden and bio waste reclamation facility that supports the mega tenant skyscraper living complex.
This is my original concept drawing however I had thought the power generating turbines were located in the vertical exhaust shaft and in fact they are in the base of the tower and the solar cover is much lower to the ground and further out extended from the base.
The advantage of this as I envision it would be that there would be year round food and a self sustaining municipal energy supply with no lines of commerce and limited commuting most likely to industrial, agricultural or technological specialized mega cities each with it's own special hydroponic areas.
Based in tectonically and geologically stable areas near water Crystal Cities could be recyclable in themselves, being relocated for new construction every century to provide for new advancements in design and function.
This would be the skyline city of the future that would house a large residence in a mixed economy community with a high standard of living for all.
